West Nile Virus

We have been notified from the Mosquito and Vector Control District, San Mateo County (SMCMVCD) that the mosquitoes in the area have tested negative for the West Nile Virus.  Since it is the end of the mosquito season and Pacifica does not have a hospitable climate for mosquitoes, there is no more monitoring to be done at this time.  However, should one find fresh carcasses of birds or tree squirrels, please contact the West Nile virus hotline, online at www.westnile.ca.gov or by phone at 877-968-2473 (877-WNV-BIRD).   This is follow-up information on our report that a dead bird was located on the Ocean Shore campus and our work with the SMCMVCD.
